Why an Asian IT graduate cannot find a job in Adelaide, Australia?
Except my bachelor degree of Networking, I have a career training program certificate. I am specialized in website development, E-commerce solution and SEO.
I have 2 done internships at 2 IT companies and so many volunteer IT job experience. I have sent 300 applications in the recent 3 months. I have just got one interview.
I wrote to lots company providing website development and Internet marketing services, I did not get any reply.
Do these companies in Adelaide discriminate me because I am an Asian or Foreigner? I am now feeling really depressed. Can anyone help me?

First of all you should get someone to check your CV (resume) and make sure it looks good..then try for an internship or voluntary work somewhere…charity’s may appreciate your skills and give you either a job or a good review.
Secondly…I do believe that there IS some degree of racism in Adelaide…not everyone but the older generation can be racist….Australians will hotly deny this…but as a White woman I encountered it during my year there towards my friends.

I have a friend in the same situation, it’s nothing to do with your ethnicity. He’s constantly being classified as "overqualified" and denied jobs he could do asleep. It’s the economy, sorry to say.

Are you apply for jobs that are advertised or just sending out CVs to companies? If the latter, most companies will not accept unsolicited CVs. When they have a position, they hire an external agency to find the person – and that agency is who advertised the position. Your application will be binned.
If the jobs are advertised, are you following the instructions and applying to the specific job? A generic application is also ditched as they feel that given you cannot spend an hour or two working on your CV/application why should they give you a chance.
As a guide, it should take 2-3 hours to mould your CV, application letter and response to selection criteria per application. 2-3 applications a day (if you are not working) or 1 a day (if working) is all you should be getting through. Quality is more important that quantity.
The most likely issue is that you may be looking too high. I was always amazed that new graduates thought they were qualified to take on a position that required at least 5 years work experience. You should be trying to get ANY job, even if it is paying alot less than you are after or a lower position – it is much easier to get another job if employed then it is when you are unemployed. People look at you and say – unemployed for 6 months – something must be wrong with them.
